Educators from a number of various junior and senior High Schools of our region’s school districts gathered on Wednesday, June 30th to attend Greater Spokane Incorporated’s Digital Advertising and Media Production Teaching the Teachers workshop. The first stop was BHW1 advertising firm where Greg Birchell gave a fantastic presentation that highlighted the different jobs each of his employees do. His presentation included web design, art directing, account manager, creative development, graphic design and more! Next, the educators received a guided tour of the North by Northwest Productions' studio. The tour allowed the teachers to see what skills are needed for the various jobs involved in media productions. The teachers spoke with audio technicians, film editors, producers and photographers. Finally, Melinda Breen other faculty members of the Visual Communications program at Eastern Washington University hosted the afternoon portion of the workshop at the EWU Cheney campus. The educators were given an overview of the academic programs that are offered at Eastern Washington University that would give their students the necessary skills to succeed in the media and digital industries.
