January 15, 2013 - Greater Spokane Incorporated, the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and the West Plains Chamber of Commerce, and more than 80 area business and community leaders, will travel to Olympia Jan. 23-25 to advocate on behalf of Eastern Washington.

The annual trip is designed to present the priorities of our region to our state legislators.

Among our regional priorities are:

  • Our opposition to increased taxes and regulations on businesses, including the elimination of tax incentives for manufacturers.
  • Maintaining levy equalization funding and full funding of state matching dollars for K-12 construction projects.
  • $750 million in funds for the design and construction of the North Spokane Corridor from Francis Ave. to Interstate 90.
  • $40 million for the design and reconstruction of the I-90/SR 902 Interchange and improvements to the I-90/Geiger Road Interchange.
  • $5 million in the 2013-2015 biennium for the continued expansion of health sciences at the Riverpoint Campus.
  • $2.5 million for the completion of the phase two construction of Spokane Valley Tech.
