City of Spokane and Spokane County to Sign JLUS Print E-mail
May 15, 2012 - City of Spokane Mayor David Condon, City Council President Ben Stuckart, and Spokane County Commissioner Mark Richard will each sign the respective Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) ordinances at Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI) May 17 at 10:30 a.m. in GSI's first floor conference room.

All three, including Rich Hadley, President and CEO of GSI, will be available for comments.

Both the City of Spokane and Spokane County recently voted to implement the JLUS, which is a land-use planning effort between Fairchild Air Force Base and the surrounding communities. The process was funded by the Department of Defense.

The JLUS was implemented to prevent encroachment, which is a major reason bases around the nation close. The implementation will help preserve our base well into the future, and could enhance our efforts to attract the KC-46A tankers.
