Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI) will welcome James Albaugh, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, to be the keynote speaker at its Annual Meeting on Sept. 12.
Albaugh was President and CEO of Boeing Space and Communications from 1998 to 2002. In 2002, he became President and CEO of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems until 2009, when he took over his current position. "Boeing's recent announcement to build the new 737MAX in the northwest gave our region's aerospace industry a huge lift," said Rich Hadley, President and CEO of GSI. "Mr. Albaugh will be able to share his view of the future of aerospace in our region. Our local suppliers will hear from Boeing Commercial's top executive right here in Spokane."
GSI actively works to advance the aerospace industry in our region through the Inland Northwest Aerospace Consortium (INWAC) and the Aerospace Initiative for Recruitment in Spokane (AIR Spokane). There are currently more than 80 direct and indirect area suppliers to the aerospace industry. Those suppliers support more than 8,000 employees and half a billion dollars in annual economic impact. The aerospace industry views the region very favorably.
GSI invites the business community to come together to hear about the past year's successes and the year ahead. This year's Annual Meeting will take place at the Spokane Convention Center on Sept. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The public can register here.
