Breaking Ground for the Southbound Lanes of the North Spokane Corridor Print E-mail
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will be present alongside U.S. Senator Patty Murray and Washington State Senator Chris Marr at the groundbreaking for the North Spokane Corridor on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 2:30 p.m. A $35 million dollar Transportation Investments Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant will help build three southbound lanes from Francis Avenue to Farwell Road.



nscair7-22-09cwebGreater Spokane Incorporated President and CEO Rich Hadley will speak on behalf of the business community at the groundbreaking. Greater Spokane Incorporated is a strong supporter, partner and advocate for the completion of the North Spokane Corridor. Washington Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond and Spokane Mayor Mary Verner will also be present.

Hear about how the freeway will soon feature a six-lane divided freeway from Francis Avenue to Farwell, and how this project connects the north end of the corridor. Graham Construction and Management Inc. will be present to show off its equipment.


Directions:

From I-90
Take the Thor/Freya exit (283B) and drive north on Freya. Continue north until it turns into Greene Street. After crossing the Spokane River, Green becomes Market. You will drive through the Hillyard district on Market. Turn right on Francis Avenue, and then right on Freya. At the roundabout, follow the signs to the North Spokane Corridor. Drive north 1.9 miles and follow the instructions of the flaggers who will direct you to the event site.
