The state's Redistricting Commission reached a final decision as the calendar turned to 2012 on new district boundaries in response to the state's growing population.

In the Greater Spokane region, much of the West Plains will move from the 7th District to the 6th District.

The 3rd District - which is the City of Spokane boundaries - and the 4th District - which encompasses Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake and Millwood - both remained untouched.
