The State House passed two aerospace-related bills today as the special session turns the corner and enters its second half.

The House voted 77-18 to pass a bill that establishes grant programs for high schools to prepare students for aerospace careers, skills centers for enhanced manufacturing skills programs, and for high schools to create courses pertaining to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education.

The second bill passed 93-2 and will mandate that the Professional Educator Standards Board revise its certification standards for elementary and secondary education teachers so those teachers have knowledge with STEM Education.

GSI has helped lead the STEM initiative in our area, and the Inland Northwest Aerospace Consortium (INWAC) works to promote the region's aerospace industry. Our area colleges and universities will benefit from the passage of these bills.
