Nation approaches Friday expiration date.
The debate around the payroll tax reduction legislation has led to the omnibus agreement being delayed. Senate Democrats withheld their signatures on the omnibus agreement in order to pressure House Republicans over the payroll tax cut legislation, which the House passed Tuesday by a vote of 234-193. The Senate is not expected to pass the payroll tax legislation. Since the omnibus agreement hasn't been filed, the government is only funded through this Friday. A Continuing Resolution (CR) would be needed to extend Congress' work. A mini CR could happen if both houses can't agree on the payroll tax legislation or the omnibus agreement.
