Budget Chief Urges Passage This Month Print E-mail

capitol-olympiaComments by legislators brings urgency.

Office of Financial Management Director Marty Brown urged lawmakers to pass a budget during the special session, and that the state can't wait any longer.

Brown's request comes after lawmakers' comments hinting at no passage during the special session.

The Spokesman-Review quoted Brown as saying the state currently spends $41 million a day. Brown sent an email to legislators and the media asking for a budget, while noting that, "every day that goes by, we can't get that money back."

The special session in Olympia began Nov. 28 and lasts 30 days.
