Special Legislative Session Focuses on Economy Print E-mail

 

taxSpecial legislative sessions will bring state officials together in an effort to find more ways to cut the budget.


With a lack of significant job growth and a $1.4 billion gap between income and spending, normal economic times remain distant. An increase in foreclosures are predicted and home construction is at a standstill.

Projections show that state revenues may be around $500 million below previous estimates through June 30, 2012.

A special legislative session will work on cutting back the budget and try to turn the economic outlook around.
