President Obama nominated Spokane Mayor Mary Verner to the National Institute of Building Sciences today. The board seeks to improve building sciences and technologies. Confirmation by the U.S. Senate awaits. 

The board consists of 21 individuals, six of which are appointed by the White House, such as Mayor Verner.
