Benefits of having a completed North Spokane Corridor have been delayed until funds can be secured, but you can do something about it.
Spokane has been working on building a north-south freeway now for several years. The Inland Northwest chapter of the Associated Contractors of America is planning on sending a representative, Wayne Brokaw, to Washington D.C. on September 18. The goal of this visit is to remind our state elected officials the importance of this project and the benefits it will bring once completed.
The benefits include:
- Emissions: With completion of the NSC, we will improve our air quality by reducing regional emissions by 2.4 million pounds of carbon monoxide each year- Health & Safety
- Greenhouse gases: With completion of the NSC, we will be able to reduce up to 15,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents each- Health &Safety
- Gas Savings: With completion of the NSC, we will be able to reduce our consumption by 1.7 million gallons of gasoline a year- Economic Impact
- Freight Mobility: With completion of the NSC, we will move these trucks out of our neighborhoods, parks and schools- Health & Safety
- Travel: With completion of the NSC, we will reduce the travel time from Interstate 90 to Wandermere by 30-35 minutes each way. For our elderly traveling from the north to Spokane for medical treatment and for our college students traveling from the north down to Eastern Washington University, Gonzaga University and the Community Colleges this is a great savings of time and travel costs. This travel time savings is estimated to be 2 million hours each year which translates into about $28 million a year in savings- Economic Impact
- Jobs: With completion of the NSC, we will increase our region’s opportunity to capture small and medium manufacturing companies to our area- Economic Impact
