Washington Governor Christine Gregoire announced early Monday that she will not run for a third term. This opens the race, as speculation begins to mount as to who will replace Gregoire. Republican State Attorney General Rob McKenna has already announced his intentions to run, and Democrat Jay Inslee, a U.S. Representative, is considered a candidate as well. Inslee did not comment after Gregoire made her announcement. Gregoire has been governor since 2004 when she defeated Republican Dino Rossi in one of the closes races in history. Gregoire again defeated Rossi in 2008. The Seattle Times has more on Gregoire's tenure as governor. |

Governor says her focus now is getting out of the recession.
