State Includes $35 Million for Biomedical and Health Sciences Building |

Money part of an almost $3 million capital budget. (Updated)
The Washington State Legislature yesterday evening passed a capital budget that includes $35 million for construction of the Biomedical and Health Sciences Building Phase I at WSU Spokane. The money is half of what it will cost to construct the building. Here is Greater Spokane Incorporated's statement on the funding.
The budget also included other projects that impact the greater Spokane region. Those projects include:
- $30.5 million for Patterson Hall remodel at Eastern Washington University
- $17.6 million for classroom remodeling at Spokane Falls Community College
- $17 million for stormwater overflow improvements in Spokane
- $3.5 million for the Spokane YMCA/YWCA
- $1.6 million for land around Antoine Peak
- $1.325 million in grant money for Spokane Transit Authority for improvements at STA Plaza and for reconfiguration of Wall Street between Riverside and Third Avenue
- $1.25 million for Second Harvest Food Bank
- $862,000 for ARC of Spokane
- $400,000 for the Spokane Aerospace Technology Center (budget also requires the Washington National Guard to transfer land at Geiger Field to Spokane Community College to be traded with Spokane International Airport to set up the Aerospace Technology Center)
- $79,000 for the Spokane Neighborhood Action Program
