Governor Signs Bill to Help Returning Veterans Print E-mail

Washington Governor Chris Gregoire on Wednesday signed a bill that would permit employers to show a preference for hiring veterans. Spokane Valley Republican Jeff Baxter backed the bill. 

“Between our brave young men and women serving all around the world, and those in two theaters that have been active for nearly than a decade, we have a number of returning veterans coming home looking for work,” said Baxter, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. “As a sign of appreciation for the work they have done, and in recognition of the skills they have received, many employers making hiring decisions want to give preferential treatment to those who have served. This law will allow them to do that.”
