Governor Signs Education Bill Print E-mail
healthcareBill will change math requirements for Washington students

This past Monday, Governor Gregoire signed a bill softening requirements for  high school math students. Students graduating in 2013 and 2014 will only need to take one final exam for math rather than two to complete state requirements.

A major criticism of the two-test system is that the exams would be asking students about math subjects that they took before high school. The bill allows students to choose between taking algebra or geometry exams in order to graduate.

However, in 2015 students will be required to pass both tests in order to graduate.
