Delegation Heads to D.C. Print E-mail
Lincoln MemorialMore than 40 area business leaders are off to our nation's capital to advocate on behalf of Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI), the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and the West Plains Chamber of Commerce, along with the Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls Chambers of Commerce, will take a delegation of business leaders to Washington D.C. April 5-8 to advocate on behalf of Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

This year, our delegation has more than 40 participants headed to D.C. Among the items we'll advocate for are:

  • $300 million to extend the North Spokane Corridor from the Francis/Freya Interchange to the Spokane River. This is our region's priority for transportation.
  • The basing of the new KC-46A tankers at Fairchild Air Force Base and Military Construction (MILCON) projects.
  • Expanded residency programs for medical students in the WWAMI program at WSU Spokane.
  • Support for legislation related to the growth of bioscience and health science research in the Spokane area.
  • Funding for Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) programs.
  • Retention and expansion of funding for the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), which helps businesses secure government contracts.
The delegation will be meeting with numerous representatives, including Idaho Representative Raul Labrador and Washington Representative Cathy McMorris-Rodgers. We'll also meet with Idaho Senators James Risch and Mike Crapo, and Washington Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.
