Spokane County is one of four eastern Washington counties set along the Washington-Idaho border. It borders with Pend Oreille County to the north, and Lincoln County to the west. It shares is northwest corner with Stevens County, and borders Whitman County to the south. The state of Idaho is directly to the east.

The County has a varied topography, with forests and mountains in the north, and is agriculturally fertile in the Palouse Hills of the south.
