Greater Spokane Inc. staff works everyday to build a strong and healthy Spokane regional economy in which to live, work and do business.  Here are some examples of results.  To learn more, view our annual reports for 2007, 2008, and 2009.

  • Assisted 107 businesses, created 22 workshops, and connected $15 million in government awards to companies through the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) government contracting program. 

  • Produced 90 events, seminars and workshops this year, attracting more than 8,000 attendees, including the Economic Forecast, drawing a record-setting attendance for that event of nearly 750.

  • Assisted with the recruitment of two entrepreneurial businesses – Sitecrafting, a provider of custom web site design and application development, and Spectrum Home Services of Washington, a senior home care specialist.

  • Assisted 61 companies with expansion and retention issues, including three significant expansions, resulting in 88 new jobs and more than $28 million in annual economic impact to the local economy.

  • Launched CLEEN NW (Consortium of Leading Energy Efficiency Northwest Companies), a steering committee focused on the development of a Spokane business-oriented, clean technology and energy efficiency industry group.

  • Worked with University of Washington and Washington State University on the Medical School Project to conduct a feasibility study for the expansion of a four-year medical school to be located in Spokane at Riverpoint.

  • Coordinated efforts to support the retention of Spokane’s Shriners Hospital by collaborating with key local officials and stakeholders and mobilizing more than 15,000 people online to help retain Shriners.

  • Career Exploration day, a “hands-on” event at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds exhibited over 21 local companies, 11 non-profit organizations, and five higher education training programs.  Eighteen high schools participated and brought 1,237 students through the event.

  • Created 17 “Teach the Teachers” workshops, hosting 250 teachers from middle schools and high schools throughout the region.  This series provides educators free clock hours to learn about the careers available to their students in the aerospace, manufacturing, allied health, and business & professional services industries.

  • Generated more than $220,000 in publicity.  The Spokane region was featured in numerous publications including Spokane Journal of Business, Alaska Airlines magazine, and Southwest Airlines Spirit Magazine, driving awareness to over 3 million readers.
