Government Contracting Assistance Program Receives National Acclaim

May 12, 2010

The Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC), a nationwide program to help businesses identify, prepare, and successfully compete for government contracts, recently selected the Washington State Procurement Technical Assistance Center (WA PTAC) for the "Outstanding Center Award."  This award is made in recognition of PTACs that operate at the highest level of professionalism and demonstrate best practices on a consistent basis. There are 94 PTACs across the country.

The Eastern Washington PTAC, a key part of Washington's program, is funded cooperatively by Greater Spokane Incorporated and the U.S. Government, and is managed by Tate White.   Here are a few key stats you may find of interest that show growth and impact of the Eastern Washington PTAC over the past 3 years:

* The number of clients grew by 185%
* The number of attendees at PTAC workshops increased by 536%
* The number of prime contract awards increased by 2,222%
* The number of sub-contract awards increased by 2,170%
* The number of new jobs created through these contracts increased 212%

The Washington State PTAC subcontracts outreach centers throughout the State, allowing for greater utilization of program resources.  Each center has required goals and reporting.  The Eastern WA PTAC has assisted electricians, interior designers, aerospace suppliers, machine shops, contractors and many other types of businesses in securing local, state and federal contract awards.
