Sirti
Sirti is a Washington State economic development agency that focuses on accelerating the development and growth of innovative technology-based companies in the Inland Northwest.  Entrepreneurial based start-ups and high growth companies can access business coaching and support, tap into the Sirti Technology Growth Fund and SBIR grant expertise, or even locate their companies in the Sirti incubation facilities.
 
Institute for Systems Medicine
The Institute for Systems Medicine (ISM) is a private, not-for-profit institute designed to improve human health through a unique, focused pursuit of biomedical research driven by world-class scientists and locally translated into patient applications.  The Institute will focus on epigenomics and systems biology aimed at predictive medicine as well as attracting leading scientific, academic, and business talent to Eastern Washington.
 
Eastern Washington University
Eastern Washington University houses a Patrol Crime Lab and the Washington State Digital Archives. The archives are the nation's first dedicated specifically to the preservation of electronic records from both State and Local agencies that have permanent legal, fiscal or historical value.  The Digital Archives includes a state of the art research room, complete with computer research stations, a high tech presentation classroom and a world-class data center.
 
Foley Library at Gonzaga University
Foley houses the largest library holdings of any private institute of education in the Northwest. It offers Regional Information Services (RIS), a non-profit, fee-based service with research on demand, expedited document delivery and competitive intelligence; Instructional Media Services (IMS), including video production and post-production services; a teleconferencing center for presentation and satellite teleconference downlinks use; and the Hanford Archives.
 
Washington State University Spokane
The headquarters of the WSU Division of Health Sciences, Washington State University Spokane has been designated as the university’s center for accelerated growth in health sciences research, teaching, and outreach. World-class research efforts underway at WSU Spokane cover a variety of health disciplines, including mental health, molecular biosciences, nursing, pharmacy, sleep, and substance abuse. WSU Spokane also partners extensively with area health care organizations in developing new research initiatives. Faculty at the Interdisciplinary Design Institute - which includes programs in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design - are actively engaged in research, with a particular focus on sustainable design. Many of their research efforts involve students, who have helped share knowledge with local communities as part of service-oriented projects.
 
Institute of Shock Physics Applied Sciences Lab (ASL)
Housed at Washington State University Spokane, the Applied Sciences Laboratory (ASL) is a Spokane based, contract research organization that will undertake a broad range of applied research projects for government agencies and private corporations, including the development of commercial applications.  The Institute for Shock Physics (ISP) is a multi-disciplinary research organization with an emphasis on shock wave and high pressure research.
 
Sleep and Performance Research Center
Located at WSU Spokane, the Sleep and Performance Research Center is a 5,000 square foot research facility located on the Riverpoint Campus in Spokane.  It includes a state-of-the-art sleep research laboratory - a four-bedroom suite for in-residence laboratory studies - which accommodates carefully controlled experiments to study the effects of sleep and sleep loss on human cognitive functioning.

Washington State University is among the top public research universities in America according to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. WSU's faculty led over $321 million in research and public service projects in 2006. Of this amount, the federal government funded $103 million. The University's research strengths are exemplified by the diversity of projects and expertise of researchers.

The Heart Institute of Spokane's primary focus is on the broad spectrum of heart and vascular diseases. The Institute supports and sponsors original research projects from both clinical and basic science disciplines.

The UI Research Park is the Inland Northwest's campus focus for research and technology-based companies wanting to create or continue working relationships with Northwest colleges and universities.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)
PNNL, located in Richland, WA, is one of the U.S. Department of Energy's ten national laboratories, managed by DOE's Office of Science. PNNL also performs research for other DOE offices as well as government agencies, universities, and industries to deliver breakthrough science and technology to meet today's key national needs. Our Laboratory.  PNNL has approximately 4,200 staff members and a business volume of $750 million.
