The Spokane region is home to Fairchild Air Force Base, located approximately 10 miles west of the City of Spokane. Fairchild boasts a modern, joint service, multi-mission base supporting air refueling and global mobility, survival training and numerous associate units, including:

• 92^nd Air Refueling Wing (Air Mobility Command USAF) – the only Tier One active duty tanker base west of the Rocky Mountains
  
  
• 141^st Air Refueling Wing (WA Air National Guard) –
  joint refueling asset with the 92^nd ARW and one of the first co-located ANG units in the nation
  
  
• 336^th Training Group (Air Education & Training Command) – 
  the Air Force’s only survival school with access to half a million acres of land for training purposes

Fairchild AFB is the largest single location employer in our region with more than 5,500 employees.  The combined annual military budget for operations and maintenance, construction and capital improvements, and payroll brings the military’s contribution to over $647 million directly to the Spokane regional economy.  The economic impact to our area is over $400 million per year.
