Teach the Teachers - Waste Management Workshop Print E-mail

On June 1, teachers and counselors from Spokane County school districts toured the Spokane Regional Solid Waste System where they learned about waste management in our area, including recycling, composting, waste reduction and proper disposal. The tours included a walk through the Waste to Energy facilities where they also learned about the operations of Wheelabrator Technologies, Inc. and its safe and environmentally sound conversion of municipal solid waste—and other renewable waste fuels—into clean energy.

In the afternoon, the group toured the Gonzaga School of Engineering and Applied Science where they heard from instructors about the school’s civil, computer, electrical and mechanical engineering programs. The information learned at this workshop will help teachers and counselors advise students interested in engineering fields.
