Greater Spokane Incorporated, in partnership with area educators from local school districts and the business community, leads the Career Awareness Campaign.Greater Spokane Incorporated, in partnership with area educators from local school districts and the business community,  leads the Career Awareness Campaign.  This campaign spotlights four high-demand, high-growth fields as identified by the Department of Labor:: allied health, manufacturing, aerospace, and business and professional services.

An all school – all industry educational career fair is held each year and gives middle and high school students the opportunity to be introduced to different careers.

  • The minimum wage for Washington State would provide a yearly salary of $16,500; if you spent less than one year in a certificate program at the community colleges or a trade school you could, in some cases, more than double that salary.
  • 59 percent of annual job openings in Washington State will require one month or more of postsecondary training between 2007-2012.
  • Washington State ranks second in the U.S. for innovation, first for creation of new software companies, and seventh for receipt of research and development funding.
  • The innovation sector supports 42% of the state's total employment.
