Spokane is the economic, financial and service capital of the Inland Northwest.  It’s economy is the most diverse in the region and supports the growth and expansion of multiple industries and employers.  Because of its location, it has been Washington State’s primary inland distribution center and transportation hub since 1881.

In Spokane, Fairchild Air Force Base is one of the region's largest employers.  Other top employers span the education, health care, and government sectors.
