Business AfterSchool: Health Care Week

Health Care Week LogoHealth care is one of Spokane County’s robust sectors of economic activity. Business AfterSchool offers a series of industry-specific open house events for students, educators and parents that provide on-site awareness of Spokane’s high-demand industries that highlight new technology, research, development and innovation, aimed at bridging the gap between education and employment.

Health Care Week provides students, teachers and parents a real-life look at organizations that provide health-related care while highlighting the training and skills required to work in that field.

THE SYMPTOM: A growing demand for health care professionals in our region.

THE PRESCRIPTION: An engaging program for students, parents and educators with workshops that include one or more of the following elements:

  • A site tour of a hospital/clinic/laboratory/office
  • Time management
  • Projects involving problem solving and innovative health care solutions
  • Interviewing skills/resumes and cover letters/job readiness skills
